Robert Scott & Sons Ltd, established in 1925, has evolved over a century into one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and distributors of cleaning products. Founded in the picturesque Saddleworth Valley in Lancashire, this fourth-generation family business has grown significantly, employing over 320 people across multiple sites, including Greenfield, Burnley, Heywood, and Redruth.

Throughout its history, Robert Scott has been committed to innovation and quality in the cleaning industry. The company is recognised as Europe’s leading mop manufacturer and the UK’s largest producer of industrial and domestic cleaning textiles. Their extensive product range encompasses over 2,000 items, catering to various sectors such as automotive cleaning, retail, and professional janitorial services.

In recent years, Robert Scott has focused on sustainability and technological advancement. In 2021, they launched the Ecofibre range, featuring products made from recycled materials. The Ecofibre cloth, for instance, is crafted from 55% recycled plastic, incorporating two recycled bottles per cloth. This cloth offers exceptional cleaning capabilities with ultrafine microfibres that can be used dry or damp, effectively working with just tap water. Additionally, the Ecofibre scourer, made from 40% plant fibres and 15% recycled polyester, provides an eco-friendly solution for tackling stubborn dirt without damaging surfaces.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025, Robert Scott continues to lead in cleaning innovation. At The Cleaning Show in March 2025, the company unveiled cutting-edge products, including the META-SCRUB 60, a robotic scrubber dryer designed for large areas like retail spaces and educational institutions.

Furthering their commitment to innovation, Robert Scott launched a new robotics division in 2023, partnering with Metabots to become the UK’s primary distributor of advanced cleaning robots. This move underscores the company’s dedication to integrating next-generation technologies into their product offerings, providing sustainable and cost-effective autonomous cleaning solutions that complement the work of cleaning operatives.

In 2024, Robert Scott expanded its washroom product line by acquiring the sole UK distribution rights for P-Wave products. P-Wave is renowned for air fresheners and urinal products with powerful, long-lasting fragrances. This acquisition aligns with Robert Scott’s goal to become carbon neutral by 2045, as P-Wave products contain up to 15% recycled materials and incorporate the EcoPure additive, accelerating biodegradation in landfills.
